Roskilde Festival is Northern Europe’s biggest music and arts festival, going strong since 1971. Every year, around 30,000 volunteers help make it happen, taking care of everything from security to building stages. It’s all organized by the Roskilde Festival Charity Society, a non-profit that donates the festival’s profits to cultural and humanitarian projects for children and young people around the world.
RF takes place on the Festival Site, outside the town of Roskilde, 35 km from Copenhagen, between June 28 – July 6, 2025.
It is a volunteering association run by DTU students and alumni. Our main goal is to provide a true Danish experience to international students by volunteering at the festival. Through this, we aim to foster cultural exchange, create lasting friendships, and offer a unique opportunity to be part of one of Denmark’s biggest events while gaining valuable teamwork and organizational skills.
By volunteering with our team, you will be working at one of the main entrances of the festival. Your main task will be checking tickets, making sure everything runs smoothly. Shifts are 8 hours with a break, and you’ll get food vouchers and drinks to keep you going. It’s a fun way to experience the festival while helping out!

You must work a total of four shifts: one night shift, one morning shift, and one evening shift. The fourth shift can be any of these three options. Shifts are 8 hours + 30 minutes break. Each day has three shifts:
The first shift starts 06:45 on Sat, June the 28th. The last shift finishes 15:15 on Sun, July the 6th.
Volunteering at the festival is a great experience, but a little preparation can make your shift even better. Here are some tips to help you have a smooth and enjoyable time:
If an emergency arises, please notify us as soon as possible by filling this form: https://sick.connectingworlds.dk. Failing to complete your shifts without prior notice will result in losing your festival wristband and impact future volunteering opportunities.
Camping is part of the Roskilde experience! As a volunteer you can access Volunteering Camping, which we recommend as it is a quiet place with hot showers. To access it you must book a spot beforehand, we’ll inform you when the camping is opening a few days before through our communications channels, so keep an eye out for the information.

Important: Everyone who wants to access Volunteer Camping needs to book it. So even if you’re staying in your friend's tent, you still need to book it yourself.
As an alternative, you can also just camp in the “normal” camping with the guests – no booking needed!
Yes! If you don’t already have a tent, you can either buy one yourself or rent it for a fee from the festival. Feel free to use our WhatsApp group to find others to share the tent with!
